Job description

Teaching personnel are proud to be working alongside a specialist primary school in Ashton-in-Makerfield, and we are seeking a nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with a highly supportive team, helping children to re-engage with learning and build confidence in a structured, therapeutic environment.

The Role:

- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs

- Assist with the delivery of tailored lessons and activities that meet individual EHCP targets

- Promote positive behaviour and help implement de-escalation strategies when needed

- Support the wider class team in creating a safe and engaging learning environment

Ideal Candidate:

- Experience working with children with SEMH or behavioural difficulties is desirable

- Calm, patient, and consistent with a passion for helping children thrive

- Confident managing challenging behaviour and building strong, trusting relationships

- Team Teach training is an advantage

Successful applicants will be subject to standard vetting checks, including two school / education-based references & a DBS.

Applicants must be able to provide an Overseas Police Check if applicant has been outside the UK for more than 6 months in the past 5 years.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
