We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our team at Westfield Arts College. This position would be suitable for a primary practitioner with proven strength in teaching and learning in core subjects. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the learning needs for pupils with SEND and the ability to deliver an engaging Maths and Science curriculum to secondary aged pupils who are working significantly below age related expectations. Where appropriate, our pupils work towards Entry Level and Functional Skills qualifications.
Understanding a therapeutic approach to managing the needs of our pupils is essential to all roles across the school and it is expected that the successful candidate will undertake appropriate training.
This is part-time post (4 days a week Monday to Thursday) offered on a permanent basis.
Westfield is a highly regarded 4-19, 233 pupil Dorset special school. All pupils have moderate/complex learning difficulties and more than half have a diagnosis of ASD. The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant and successful school. They will also receive the full support of an exceptionally committed and skilful staff team. Ofsted judged us as outstanding in February 2023.
