Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 31 primary schools (19 of which have
nurseries) and 4 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate,
provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural
and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school
with around 50 children to our largest secondary with over 1600 pupils. We have a
diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to
have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 2
secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.

Gore Glen Primary School is now 10 years old and it has grown rapidly over the last 10 years. We now have approximately 400 children. 15 mainstream classes, 3 classes within our complex needs base and a nursery with 56 capacity. Team GG work collaboratively to support and challenge all of our learners and also to drive school improvement. Almost all staff are involved in leading an aspect of school improvement which supports change to be more impactful and sustained for our learners. At Gore Glen we recognise the challenges of working in a school and staff well being is at the front and centre alongside children and families. We have been praised many times by visitors for our welcoming and nurturing environment for children, families and staff. We are looking for someone with Support for Learning experience to work with our mainstream learners and be an integral part of Team GG. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
