Job description

The Education Learning Support Hub (ELSH) is committed to assisting asylum seekers, refugees, and EU migrants in Barnsley by providing Free tailored educational programs designed to help them integrate and thrive. We seek a compassionate and enthusiastic part-time teacher to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support learners during ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and skills development classes with lesson planning and preparation of monthly reports, and quarterly student progress.
  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one guidance to learners who may need extra support.
  • Prepare and organise learning materials and resources for volunteer teachers.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
  • A passion for education and supporting diverse communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with adults in a learning environment.
  • Basic IT skills to assist with digital learning tools.
  • A qualification in education, teaching assistance, or a related field.
