Position Details

Role: Teacher of the Deaf

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Location: Margaret McMillan Tower, Bradford

This post will be based in Bradford’s Deaf & MSI Children and Young People Service, initially in the peripatetic Support Team for Deaf Children.

Responsibilities
  • Support for special school teachers, early years settings, and parents/carers in developing and managing approaches and provision for deaf children with additional needs.
  • Optimising outcomes for deaf children with complex needs through planning, assessment, teaching, training, and staff support, utilizing a thorough understanding of the special school curriculum.
  • Providing families with balanced, unbiased support and advice to enable informed decisions for their deaf children.
  • Collaborating with other agencies involved in services to deaf children.
Candidate Requirements

Applications are welcome from experienced and qualified Teachers of the Deaf. We are also open to considering outstanding qualified teachers with substantial experience working with children with severe and profound additional complex needs who are seeking to develop their career in working with deaf children.

The service is willing to support the successful candidate in undertaking training to achieve the mandatory qualification.
