Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) - Part Time

Academics is working closely with a school based in South Birmingham to appoint a Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) to start in September 2024. This is a part-time position, and experience in this role is essential.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching students with various learning difficulties and must have specific experience working with children who have hearing impairments. Creativity and resourcefulness in teaching approaches, along with excellent classroom management skills, are required.

Successful ToD candidates must have:
  1. QTS & eligibility to work within the UK
  2. Experience teaching children with hearing impairments
  3. Extensive KS1 & KS2 subject knowledge
  4. Strategic thinking and planning skills
  5. Good behaviour management skills
  6. Commitment to the learning and development of pupils
  7. Consistently good - outstanding teaching level
  8. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students

Academics Ltd requires all teachers to have a fully enhanced DBS check (or be willing to obtain one), a minimum of two references, and to attend a face-to-face interview.
