Teacher of Science

Main Scale – Upper Pay Scale

St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy is a very popular, oversubscribed and thriving school serving the Catholic community of the North of Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified teacher of Science to join our existing excellent team of dedicated professionals.

The Science department is a forward-thinking subject area and provides invaluable opportunities for learning to all our students through its rigorous and newly designed curriculum as well as a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including educational visits and STEM experiences. At its heart is excellent teaching and learning to allow our students to be the very best versions of themselves that they can be.

The Science team is both ambitious and integral to the school: the Head of Department is an SLE for Science, there are currently two Senior Pastoral Leaders who teach within the department, another member of the team is the STEM Co-ordinator for the school with another being the school’s ITT leader.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach all three science subjects at Key Stages 3 and 4. An opportunity to teach our Key Stage 5 students from across the Trinity Sixth Form is also a possibility for a suitably qualified candidate.

Applications from ECTs (for whom excellent support is available) are welcomed. Applications from those seeking part-time employment would also be considered.

The Academy is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions.

Potential candidates are welcome to visit the school by appointment. Application forms and further details are available on the Academy website and also from Mrs C Hollins (Academy Manager) on 01782 883000 ext. 037 or chollins@smwca.org.uk.
