Science Teacher

Location: Weston-super-Mare

Pay: £162.31 - £234.08per day

Type: Long-term/permanent

Hours: Full-time

Start date: 2nd September 2025

Elementa is recruiting for a Teacher of Science for this popular Secondary School on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare, close to Junction 21 of the M5. The school describes itself as a "fully inclusive secondary school dedicated to serving our children, our families and our local community". The school has been working hard on its long-term development plan and to highlight areas of improvement and implement these to achieve future success.

This school is looking for a permanent placement for this role, however, the likelihood is that this would be an initial 12-week contract via agency before moving to a permanent contract.

The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to deliver engaging and comprehensive Science lessons that contribute to the educational success of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons across different disciplines including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
  • Create a positive and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and contribute to a vibrant school community.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments within the Science curriculum and implement innovative teaching strategies.
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
  • Demonstrable experience teaching Science at the secondary level.
  • A strong background in Science subjects, with the ability to teach Physics, Chemistry, and Biology effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for inspiring students.

Contract & recruitment information

Elementa is the recruiting partner therefore applicants being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process for Elementa. This includes full vetting & background checks and application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure (which may be chargeable @£64.20)unless you have a current EnhancedDBS subscribed to theupdate service.
