Job description

Ebbsfleet Academy has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Science to join their highly successful department from September 2025. You would join a hardworking and passionate team of staff, in an academy characterised by high aspirations, academic excellence and exemplary behaviour, alongside an outstanding climate of care, encouragement and reward. Our parents are supportive and ambitious for their children, and our reputation in the local area has grown. The academy is an increasingly popular school in the rapidly growing Ebbsfleet Garden City community.

We are proud to have an energetic department of Scientists, which consists of Early Year Teachers (ECTs) and some very experienced practitioners of Science. Our successful candidate will quickly become an integral part of our science learning area which has achieved great success in recent years.

This is a full-time, permanent position and the salary offered is MPS/UPS commensurate with experience + London Fringe Allowance + additional responsibilities available for the right candidate, commensurate with experience.

Working with us

Ebbsfleet Academy is a dynamic and successful 11-18 Academy serving the local community. We have students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds, all of whom contribute to the richness of our school population.

At Ebbsfleet Academy our aim is to get the best out of every student; excellence in teaching and learning is therefore at the heart of our work. Our vision is based on three core values: ‘Be Ready, Work Hard, Be Nice’. In working towards instilling these values in our students, we strive to provide a safe, healthy and stimulating environment for all. Our curriculum is based around the needs of our students and consists of a rich blend of academic and vocational qualifications, all supported by fantastic learning resources including outstanding sports facilities, as well as modern, generously equipped classrooms, workshops and laboratories. All areas are served by excellent ICT facilities.

Our ambition is to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential, develop as courteous, confident and capable young people and leave with an education that has fully equipped them to go on to university or the career of their choice. Ebbsfleet Academy is proud to be a community school. As such we can cater specifically for the learning styles and social needs of our learners. Our curriculum allows students to develop socially, behaviourally and academically at their own pace and in their own unique ways. This reflects positively in our results.

Exam results are only one measure of success. We foster students’ wider interests and skills through a varied programme of extracurricular activities and student leadership opportunities, all of which are essential to nurturing potential outside the classroom. We have high expectations of everyone in our school. Our provision includes extension for the most able, as well as targeted support and intervention, to ensure all students achieve to the best of their ability and that they leave Ebbsfleet Academy equipped with the skills needed to excel in today’s world.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust

As of 1st September 2024, our Trust comprises 33 geographically organised academies (17 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 24,000 students and employing 4,000 talented staff. Currently, 16 of our academies are considered to be “Outstanding” which is 53% of those which have been inspected whilst part of the Trust. The Trust is establishing three ‘clusters’ of academies: LAT Central; LAT West; LAT North. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust, you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

Our commitment to safeguarding: Leigh Academies Trust and all of our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are committed to providing equality and fairness throughout our recruitment and employment practices and not discriminating on any grounds.
