Teacher of Religious Education Maternity Cover

Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester

Start Date: September 2025

Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)

Contract: Maternity Cover (1 Year)

Salary: MPS/UPS (Dependent on Experience)

GSL Education Manchester is delighted to be supporting a secondary school in Stockport to appoint a dedicated Teacher of Religious Education to cover a maternity leave from September. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a values-driven school where RE plays a central role in the curriculum.

About the Role:

You will deliver RE lessons across KS3 and KS4, exploring worldviews, ethical dilemmas, and philosophical perspectives. The school promotes critical thinking and respectful dialogue, making this an ideal setting for passionate RE teachers.

At KS4, pupils follow the AQA Religious Studies GCSE, focusing on Christianity and Islam, alongside moral issues such as crime, human rights, and social justice.

Key responsibilities will include:

Delivering engaging RE lessons in line with national curriculum guidance

Encouraging debate, reflection, and a deep understanding of global faiths

Supporting students in preparing for GCSE Religious Studies exams, including extended written responses and source-based questions

Contributing to school ethos and spiritual development
