ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY We are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of RE. A subject highly regarded in the academy, with a history of good student outcomes. The RE team is expanding, and we have a full cohort at KS4, with RE as an option at KS5. At Harris Academy Beulah Hill, you will join a dedicated team supporting our excellent students. MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The purpose of your role will be:

  1. To implement and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  2. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
  3. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their potential.
  4. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  5. To share and support the academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Operational and strategic planning (lesson planning, developing resources and syllabuses, contributing to departmental plans)
  • Curriculum planning
  • Staff development (continuing professional development, engaging in Performance Management)
  • Quality assurance (monitoring and evaluating the subject area)
  • Management of information (maintaining records and tracking progress)
  • Communication with students, parents, and stakeholders
  • Pastoral duties (being a form tutor)
  • Teaching to ensure high-quality learning experiences
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
  • Have successful secondary teaching experience (including teaching practice), preferably in multi-ethnic urban schools and 11-18 settings
  • Understand effective teaching and learning theories and practices
  • Value high expectations, equality, and inclusivity
  • Be knowledgeable of KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum requirements, including lesson planning and assessment
  • Work well in a team and build positive relationships
  • Possess good ICT skills, ideally with innovative use of interactive whiteboards
  • Create motivating and safe learning environments
  • Communicate positively with parents and external agencies
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Manage workload effectively and motivate students to raise their aspirations
