Are you passionate about psychology and interested in supporting young women's mental health and well-being? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Psychology to join our supportive and innovative Social Sciences department in an independent girls' school in West London. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025.

About the School:

The Psychology department is a collaborative and passionate team with a shared commitment to fostering students' understanding of human behaviour, mental processes, and well-being. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from biological psychology and cognitive psychology to social psychology and developmental psychology. We encourage students to engage with research, explore different perspectives on mental health, and develop their own strategies for promoting well-being.

About the Role:

  • Teach Psychology across Key Stages 4 and 5, with the possibility of contributing to PSHE lessons.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable discussing sensitive topics related to mental health and well-being.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Psychology curriculum remains relevant and engaging.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to promote student well-being and mental health awareness.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Psychology education and mental health support.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Psychology.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Psychology and a commitment to student well-being.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Psychology and relevant examination specifications.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  • Competitive salary (independent school pay scale)
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme and private healthcare.
  • Excellent professional development opportunities, including opportunities for subject-specific training in Psychology and mental health awareness.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment where your contributions are valued.
  • Opportunities to contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and pastoral roles.
