Job summary

Mount House School in Barnet, North London, is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Product Design (with opportunity for Subject Lead) to strengthen our thriving Faculty and curriculum.

You will foster a supportive, aspirational classroom, uphold safeguarding, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality lessons, assess pupil progress and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Qualifications

  • QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification is required.
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting is preferred.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Strong classroom management and assessment skills.
  • Proficient in using technology to support teaching and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that support pupil progress and achievement.
  • Assess, monitor and report on pupils' attainment, progress and development.
  • Prepare pupils for examinations and contribute to assessment processes.
  • Act as a Form Tutor, supporting pupils' academic, personal and social development.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and communicate regularly regarding pupil progress.
  • Contribute to the school's co-curricular programme and lead an extracurricular club.
  • Support and participate in school trips, events and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, health and safety.

Location: Mount House School Salary: Up to £42,570 per Annum Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks per year

About the Role

Mount House School is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Product Design (with opportunity for Subject Lead). This position plays a crucial role in this mission: it contributes to a thriving Faculty that builds the depth of our curriculum, intellectual agility and resilience.

Key Responsibilites

  • Undertake administrative duties associated with teaching and pastoral responsibilities
  • Promote and uphold the values, ethos and community life of the school
Who We Are Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments.
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding classroom practice and raise student achievement.
  • Excellent understanding of assessment, monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Effective behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Proficient in the use of technology to support teaching, learning and administration.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities.
  • Positive, enthusiastic and adaptable approach to education.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
