A leading educational institution in London is seeking a qualified Physics Teacher to deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The role involves planning curriculum, assessing student performance, managing classroom behavior, and contributing to extracurricular STEM initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to support students' academic growth while fostering a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status and a relevant science degree.
Teach Key Stage 3 (KS3) science, which includes introductory physics topics.
Specialize in Key Stage 4 (KS4) (GCSE Physics or Combined Science) and Key Stage 5 (KS5) (A-Level Physics).
Plan lessons aligned with the National Curriculum, exam board specifications (e.g. AQA, Edexcel, OCR), and school policies.
Design and administer formative (ongoing) and summative (final) assessments.
Mark work, track progress, and provide constructive feedback to students.
Prepare students for external exams, including mock assessments and revision support.
Create a safe, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
Use a range of strategies to manage behavior and support engagement.
Plan and supervise hands-on experiments and demonstrations.
Ensure health and safety standards are met in labs, often liaising with technicians.
Act as a form tutor or support students well-being in a broader role.
Monitor student welfare and refer concerns according to safeguarding policies.
Contribute to extra-curricular STEM activities (e.g. science clubs, Olympiads, school trips).
Engage in professional development, staying updated on pedagogy and subject content.
Attend staff meetings, parents evenings, and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
Support or mentor trainee teachers or early career teachers (ECTs).
