An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Physics and Science at Anderson High School, Lerwick.

Our location offers great learning opportunities, supported by excellent resources and a caring community.

Anderson High School is a six-year school serving the Shetland community, including associated primary schools and pupils from the islands of Fair Isle and Foula. It provides education up to S5 and S6, with extensive transport and accommodation options for students from remote areas.

In August 2024, 1028 pupils were enrolled. The Head Teacher is Mr Robin Calder.

We seek qualities such as vision, energy, initiative, good communication skills, and self-discipline, in addition to relevant qualifications and experience.

Additional Information
  • The grade of this post is TCHR.
  • The salary includes a Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata).
  • This is a temporary full-time position for 35 hours per week, approximately 12 months.
  • Candidates must join or update the PVG Scheme before employment.
  • Registration with GTCS is required before starting.
  • Flexible route probationers are encouraged to apply.
  • No relocation package is available.
  • Interview expenses within Shetland are paid.
  • Flexible working options are available.
