Job description

Withington Girls’ School, The Sunday Times’ North-West Independent School of the Decade 2021, is looking for a well-qualified, experienced Teacher of PE (Maternity Cover) to join this outstandingly successful independent day school for girls.

Detail

The role of Teacher of PE (Maternity Cover) is available from September 2025 and is offered on a 1-year fixed term contract expected to end August 2026. The role is full time.

PE is a core subject for all pupils from Year 3 to Year 11 inclusive and a key part of our pupils’ experience. We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities so that all of our pupils can develop their skills and confidence, both within curriculum lessons and through our outstanding extra-curricular provision. Our aim is that, whether playing competitively in teams, at elite level, or enjoying physical activity for fitness and wellbeing, there is something to inspire all of our pupils. We also benefit from outstanding facilities, extended and enhanced in 2018, which include a sports hall, gymnasium, fitness suite, mind and body studio and all-weather pitch.

The post holder will be required to teach PE across all year groups. The post holder will also be expected to make a contribution to the vibrant extra-curricular programme and to help to promote the Department to maintain and improve student standards.
