Job summary

Harris Academy Ockendon is seeking a Teacher of Physical Education to join our supportive, high-achieving school. You will teach PE to students across KS3 and KS4, plan engaging lessons, assess progress and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

The successful candidate will hold QTS or equivalent, have secondary teaching experience, good ICT skills, and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team while building strong relationships with students, parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
• Secondary teaching experience, including practice teaching.
• Experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and 11-18 settings.
• Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory and practice.
• Commitment to high expectations and equality of access, and tutoring.
• Knowledge of KS3/KS4 NC requirements; ability to write plans, develop resources and assess work.
• Ability to work in a team and maintain positive staff relationships.
• Good ICT skills; ideally using interactive whiteboards creatively.
• Create a motivating, safe learning environment for all students.
• Communicate positively with parents, carers and external agencies when needed.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to lead and manage own work effectively.
• Excellent time management.
• Motivate students and raise aspirations through varied strategies.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
• Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice), ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and of working in an 11-18 school
