Are you a passionate and inspiring Teacher of Music with a desire to nurture the next generation of musicians and performers? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Music department in an independent sixth form college in Kensington. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025.

About the Music Department:

The Music department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for fostering a love of music in our students. We offer a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of musical styles and traditions, from classical to contemporary. We encourage students to develop their performance skills, composition abilities, and musical appreciation through individual lessons, ensemble rehearsals, and performance opportunities.

About the Role:

  • Teach Music at A Level, inspiring and challenging students to deepen their understanding of musical theory, history, and performance practice.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Support students in preparing for their A Level Music examinations, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to succeed.
  • Guide students in composing their own music, developing their creative and technical abilities.
  • Lead and direct ensembles, such as choirs, orchestras, and bands, providing students with opportunities to perform and collaborate.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Music curriculum remains relevant, engaging, and rigorous.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the college to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Music education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Music.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Music and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the A Level Music specifications and assessment requirements.
