About us

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy (DACA) has a capacity of 1200 in the lower school and also has a developing sixth form provision. The sixth form has enjoyed strong progress in both academic and applied courses and has destinations data that shows NEETs significantly lower than the national picture.

All Aldridge schools place enterprise and an entrepreneurial spirit at the heart of their ethos. In addition, DACA has a strong record of promoting cultural capital through its Technology and Creative Arts departments, where competition, visits and visitors are a regular part of student experience and support the development of cultural capital. DACA is very much a community school with a truly comprehensive intake.

Sitting above the national average, 33% of its cohort are designated as being in the pupil premium category and DACA works hard to support all students to achieve strong engagement and strong outcomes. We believe that music is more than just an art form—it's a pathway to self-expression, teamwork, and confidence. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Music Teacher to lead our students in exploring the joy of music while fostering a love for learning. We would welcome applications from ECTs.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Has a Strong Musical Foundation: Whether it’s playing multiple instruments, composing, or understanding various music genres, we want someone who brings their expertise and enthusiasm for music into the classroom.
  • Is an Inspiring Educator: You should be able to ignite curiosity and foster a love for music in students of all ages. Creativity in lesson planning and the ability to engage students in a variety of learning styles are key!
  • Possesses Excellent Communication Skills: Effective communication with students, staff, and parents is crucial. You should be able to clearly explain concepts and provide constructive feedback.
  • Has a Passion for Mentorship: Beyond teaching music, we’re looking for someone who will serve as a role model, mentor, and supporter of student growth—both musically and personally.
  • Is a Team Player: You’ll collaborate with other teachers and staff, contributing to a positive, energetic school community. Flexibility and teamwork are essential.
  • Has Experience with Performance and Events: Experience in organizing school concerts, performances, and musical events is a big plus!
