Job description

We are looking for an outstanding Teacher to join the MFL Department at Wyvern St Edmund's from 1st September 2025.

Please note that we reserve the right to close this vacancy early, so candidates are encouraged to submit applications prior to the closing date.

At Wyvern St Edmund's, we offer our students French, German, and Spanish. We are particularly looking for a candidate who can teach French up to KS4 and either Spanish or German up to KS4.

In every year group, we focus on developing a love of language by making it fun and accessible. We aim to deepen students’ understanding of the importance of learning other languages and to inform them about different cultures.

The department also offers exciting enrichment opportunities, including annual language ‘immersion’ trips to France, Germany, and Spain in both KS3 and KS4.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will be an experienced and outstanding classroom practitioner with a strong track record of outcomes. This could also be an excellent opportunity for an exceptional Early Careers Teacher.

Our Commitment: At WSE, we are committed to a knowledge-rich curriculum and a traditional, teacher-led, interactive approach to teaching, behaviour, and culture. We believe in teaching powerful knowledge, ‘the best that has been thought and said,’ and fostering an aspirational ethos. Our approach is influenced by Doug Lemov’s ‘Teach Like A Champion,’ Rosenshine’s principles, and recent developments in cognitive science. We aim to create a scholarly culture that is warm, disciplined, and joyful, ensuring impeccable behaviour so teachers can focus on teaching and pupils on learning.

Values and Vision: We are dedicated to providing an inclusive, aspirational, and academic education for all students, enabling them to learn, thrive, and lead successful lives. We are ambitious for every child, regardless of background or prior attainment, and we aim to help them overcome barriers and flourish.

Staff Support: We highly value our staff and prioritize workload management. Our systems are designed to maximize teaching effectiveness, allowing you to focus on your core purpose in a sustainable way, free from unnecessary bureaucracy or behaviour issues.

What We Offer:

  • Extensive support and progression opportunities
  • A knowledge-rich curriculum based on ‘powerful knowledge’
  • Collaborative planning with shared units of work and resources
  • Excellent support from the MLP team
  • A feedback policy emphasizing whole-class feedback over onerous marking
  • Disruption-free learning with a ‘warm/strict’ behaviour system
  • Supportive senior leadership
  • Centralized detentions
  • No formal graded lesson observations—just ongoing supportive feedback
  • Ongoing CPD, career development, and promotion opportunities
