Job Overview

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Media and Drama to join a well-established department in a school based in Croydon, starting September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This role is ideal for an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or a more experienced educator, with the opportunity to teach Media (BTEC National Level 3) and Drama to at least GCSE level. There will also be opportunities to teach A Level Drama for the right candidate.

The successful Teacher of Media and Drama will be an excellent classroom practitioner, bringing passion and enthusiasm for both subjects. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that enable pupils of all abilities to make excellent progress. Applications are welcome from candidates with experience in either the state or independent sectors.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate the following essential qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent (assessed via application form)
  • Ability to teach BTEC Media Studies (post 16) (assessed at interview)
  • Ability to teach Drama to A Level (desirable)
  • ECT or QTS status (essential)

Essential skills and aptitudes include:

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills (assessed via application form, interview, references, and assessment exercise)
  • Strong organisational skills within the classroom and on educational visits
  • Ability to link topics across the syllabus
  • Ability to develop good examination technique in pupils, particularly in drawing out skills of analysis and evaluation
