Position: Teacher of Maths

Salary: £33,594 - £50,589
Hours: 35 per week

Portobello High School is a six-year comprehensive school located in the East of Edinburgh with over 1500 students, mainly from five associated primary schools: Brunstane, Duddingston, Parsons Green, Royal High, and Towerbank.

The school was rebuilt in 2016 and features high-standard facilities. It actively uses these facilities for community engagement and offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, especially in arts and sports. The school maintains positive relationships with parents and seeks to build partnerships with local businesses and the community.

The school's values are centered around the vision of Achieving Together, supporting every student to reach their full potential. A strong community ethos ensures everyone feels valued and included, with a focus on learning and opportunities to foster confidence among students.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a large, dedicated staff team in a comprehensive setting. The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic, forward-thinking department that offers all SQA Mathematics courses from National 4 to Advanced Higher, including Applications of Mathematics. The department values strong relationships with students and prioritizes their achievement and wellbeing, aiming to provide an inclusive curriculum that reflects student diversity.

Salaries follow the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the candidate has spent three or more months outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
