Fylde Coast Academy Trust (FCAT) was established in 2012. Our trust aims to ensure first class learning opportunities for all young people across the Fylde Coast and Lancashire. The trust has grown to include 10 academies with primary, secondary, and all-through schools, as well as Central Services and a School Improvement team. Our values of excellence, integrity, and resilience guide us to be the best we can be. Learners are at the heart of what we do, and their outcomes and successes drive us.
As a Multi-Academy Trust, we work in partnership with local educational institutions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, which is critical to our culture of continuous improvement. More information about the trust and its work can be found at www.fcat.org.uk.
Blackpool Aspire Academy opened in 2014 after the merger of Bispham High School and Collegiate High School. The school moved into its current building in 2015 and shares an entrance with Highfurlong School. The Fylde Coast Academy Trust (FCAT) sponsors the school.
The school's motto is: “Success, nothing less!” It encourages pupils to achieve their potential in a stimulating environment. The school follows six core values under the acronym ASPIRE: achievement and attainment, success, progress, inspiration, resilience, and enriched opportunities. Pupils are taught to be kind and considerate members of the community, sensitive to others' feelings.
Students are encouraged to pursue their goals, and many extracurricular activities are available to develop new interests and skills. Learning outside the classroom is extended through academic clubs.
Ofsted reports that “Pupils are prepared to progress to the next stage of education, training, or employment. There is a comprehensive careers strategy that raises pupils’ future aspirations. Opportunities for leadership, such as pupil parliament representatives, help prepare pupils well for the future. Since the school opened, the number of pupils not moving on to education, employment, or training has significantly decreased.”
