About Us
As part of a maternity cover, we are excited to offer a unique opportunity for the right candidate, which offers negotiable hours of work and will focus on the delivery of A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. As such, we seek to appoint a highly skilled mathematician, capable of supporting our A level learners in meeting the demands of their curriculum, and maintaining our exceptional faculty A level outcomes. The successful candidate would be joining a high performing Maths faculty, where teaching and learning is at the heart of our collaborative practice. Whilst this role has become available through a maternity cover opportunity, there may be flexibility around the longevity of this role subject to the school’s continued growth in pupil numbers and should the successful candidate request.
The mathematics department is a dedicated team who enjoy working collaboratively to ensure students have the best possible experience in their lessons. We achieve above average results at both GCSE and A Level and attract good numbers to post 16, offering A Level Maths, Further Maths and Core Maths. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and have the enthusiasm to impart a love of Maths on an amazing set of students. They will also have excellent subject knowledge as this post offers the exciting possibility of teaching in KS5.
A bespoke CPD programme at Heanor Gate means that tailored support is matched to career stage expectations and individuals continually develop their own professional practice in line with personal priorities.

Heanor Gate Spencer Academy is an ‘Outstanding’ secondary school and sixth form (Ofsted, June 2023) which is oversubscribed in Year 7 for the second successive year. We are extremely proud of our inspection report which is a testament to 7 years of school improvement.
