Contract: Full-time, permanent

Grow with us. Inspire mathematicians. Help us achieve incredible things.

This is an exciting time to join Q3 Academy Tipton.

As our school continues to grow, we are expanding our Mathematics department and seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Mathematics to join our team.

We want to build on our provision, broaden the mathematical opportunities available to our students and pursue ever higher standards of achievement.

We are ambitious for Mathematics at Q3 Academy Tipton. We want students not simply to achieve strong examination outcomes, but to develop confidence, fluency, curiosity and a genuine appreciation of mathematics. As our department expands, we want to explore opportunities to offer more mathematics, provide greater challenge and enrichment, and create increasingly ambitious pathways for students with a passion and talent for the subject.

For the right candidate, this is an opportunity to be part of that journey.

Want to make a difference to young people?

At Q3 Academy Tipton, we aim to support and develop young people who:

  • are enthusiastic learners and achieve incredible things;
  • live life to the full in pursuit of what is good, right and true;
  • lead happy, confident and safe lives;
  • are unstoppable in the world of work and within their families and communities.

We achieve this by ensuring our students know more, do more and achieve more.

Our values of kindness, ambition, resilience and respect sit at the heart of our community. We challenge, check and cheer the achievements and standards of students and staff, while creating a school in which everyone matters and everyone is supported to succeed.

Why Mathematics at Q3 Academy Tipton?

We are looking for someone who shares our belief that every student can become a successful mathematician.

As the Academy continues to grow, this appointment will strengthen our Mathematics team and give us greater capacity to:

  • drive excellence in Mathematics and secure strong outcomes for all students;
  • provide further challenge and opportunity for our most able mathematicians;
  • strengthen support for students who need additional help to become confident and successful;
  • develop mathematical enrichment and opportunities beyond the classroom;
  • explore opportunities to broaden our Mathematics curriculum and pathways as the Academy grows;
  • develop students' mathematical confidence, reasoning and problem-solving skills;
  • inspire more young people to see Mathematics as a route to ambitious future study and careers.

Whether you are an experienced teacher looking for your next opportunity or an excellent early career teacher keen to develop within a supportive department, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Department and Senior Line Manager, the successful candidate will join a high-performing curriculum area and have responsibility for securing strong progress for students through well-sequenced, ambitious and responsive teaching.

You will:

  • plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons in accordance with the agreed curriculum;
  • use evidence-informed teaching strategies to provide appropriate challenge and purposeful learning;
  • use assessment effectively to identify gaps, inform teaching and accelerate progress;
  • adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including students with SEND, disadvantaged students and those who face additional barriers to learning;
  • establish a positive classroom climate where students are challenged, supported and expected to succeed;
  • contribute to curriculum development, shared planning and professional dialogue within the Mathematics team;
  • use technology effectively where it adds value to teaching, learning and accessibility;
  • contribute fully to the wider life of the department and Academy.

These expectations reflect the Academy's wider teacher role, including responsibility for progress, curriculum delivery, inclusion, assessment, behaviour and contribution to an ambitious curriculum area.

Who are we looking for?

Above all, we want an excellent teacher who is ambitious for young people and passionate about Mathematics.

You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status;
  • a good honours degree;
  • strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Mathematics;
  • high expectations of the achievement and behaviour of every student;
  • the ability to plan learning that meets the needs of students with different starting points;
  • an understanding of how assessment can be used intelligently to improve outcomes;
  • a commitment to inclusion and removing barriers to achievement;
  • effective communication skills and the ability to work successfully as part of a team;
  • a desire to continue developing professionally and contribute to the improvement of the Academy.

The full person specification identifies QTS, a good honours degree, effective communication, inclusive practice and a commitment to high standards as core expectations of the role.

Why join us?

This is more than an opportunity to teach Mathematics. It is an opportunity to help shape what Mathematics can become within a growing school.

We can offer:

  • opportunities to innovate, collaborate and develop your practice;
  • high expectations coupled with strong professional support;
  • sector-leading professional development through The Mercian Trust;
  • opportunities for professional and career development within a large and diverse Trust;
