TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS | From August 2025

1 year fixed term, or permanent contract available, depending on the applicant's position.
Salary at the appropriate point on St George's Main Grade Scale for teachers - dependant on experience.

Job Purpose
- To teach and support the provision of mathematics from Remove (P7) to Upper 6 (S6)
- To support learning and teaching in mathematics through effective delivery to the students in accordance with faculty guidelines, national and school policy
- To be responsible to the relevant Head of Faculty in contributing to the delivery of the designated curriculum
- To be a committed team player with a forward-looking approach to provision in learning and teaching, including the enhancement of digital literacy
- To be responsible to the appropriate Year Head as a Form Tutor/Teacher with responsibility for the pastoral care of a group of pupils and for monitoring and recording their overall academic progress

Key Responsibilities
To the Students:
- Foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere within the school, stimulating students to a high standard of interest and encouraging their potential development.
- Keep abreast of curriculum developments, integrating through course development or change when required.
- Facilitate the ongoing development of learning and teaching provision with appropriate lesson preparation using resources and strategies suited to the students' age and ability.
- Monitor, assess, and progress students’ work and performance in line with national and school requirements.
- Offer support and strategies to students with learning difficulties and additional support needs.
- Encourage students to build confidence and responsibility for their learning.
- Ensure provision for students with access arrangements in examinations.
- Ensure student safety under supervision and raise awareness of safety issues.
- Collaborate with the Head of Faculty and other staff to create a stimulating learning environment.
- Work with fellow Mathematics teachers and the Head of Faculty to ensure curriculum breadth, balance, and progression.
- Attend faculty meetings for communication, decision-making, and task delegation.
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Contribute to co-curricular activities and educational visits.
To the School:
- Maintain regular contact with the Head of Faculty regarding students.
- Work with colleagues to uphold high standards of behaviour.
- Implement school policies including health and safety, trips, curriculum, assessment, and tracking.
- Utilize the School Improvement Plan for departmental development.
- Maintain high standards of punctuality, appearance, and commitment.
- Participate in supervisory duties, staff meetings, in-service days, and training.
- Attend parent/staff meetings as required.
- Complete and oversee student reports according to guidelines and deadlines.
- Ensure the security and proper use of departmental items.
- Report damages or issues to facilities management.
