We are looking for someone who is an excellent teacher and who can promote their love of humanities to our students. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner to join a fantastic team and school. We welcome applications from ECT teachers just starting out on their teaching career and can offer a very supportive approach to the ECT programme; we also welcome applications from more experienced teachers. A passion for Humanities subjects and the many opportunities they can open for students is key. Whilst we ideally need a teacher for 3 days per week, we would consider other options for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will join a close, friendly and supportive team of teachers, all of whom are specialists in their subjects. We are looking for a candidate with the skills and experience to make a real difference and develop our students love of history along with either geography and/or RE. We are looking for someone who will be a team player in this oversubscribed, friendly and high-achieving school where we challenge all students and staff to be the best they can be.

We Are Looking For

  • a teacher of history to GCSE level with a track record of excellent student progress (either from an ITT programme or current/previous post) and the ability to teach Geography and or RE at Key Stage 3 (or KS4) would be hugely beneficial
  • a strong presence and the ability to form excellent relationships with students, and all stakeholders
  • an innovative thinker who is able to find creative solutions and think on their feet
  • a driven and motivated professional who works hard and always strives to ensure students have the very best learning experience in humanities
  • a teacher who is keen to develop and progress within the profession

We are looking for someone with the commitment and energy to continue to drive forward our high standards and high outcomes in humanities. Our teachers also have excellent support from our extended Student Support Team, including the Welfare Team, Engagement Team and Learning Support team. We have a team of excellent and dedicated teachers, tutors and Middle Leaders across the school and our students are a delight to work with and achieve consistently excellent progress in their GCSEs (P8 + 0.88 2024).

We have a strong induction programme for all new staff, and support staff through their ECT programme, and support more experienced staff with undertaking NPQs. As part of a multi academy trust there are many opportunities for collaboration and sharing of good practice across the member schools.

We are an oversubscribed and friendly school with big ambitions and our staff and students are proud to belong proud to achieve. Our growing school has undergone significant refurbishment over the last three years, including a recent state-of-the-art extension to our Drama studio and a new English block and library completed in August 2024.

We are an 11-16 Academy of 900 students and our school is situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Haslemere. Haslemere lies in Surrey, on the border with Hampshire and West Sussex and we have excellent road and rail links to neighbouring counties. We are situated just 3 minutes drive off the main A3 and we are also fortunate to have a train station in Haslemere on the mainline from Portsmouth to London Waterloo.
