ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Senior School, founded in 2015, caters to approximately 450 boys, all studying at least one language for 5 years, with consistent academic improvements at IGCSE and A Level. Our students gain places at top UK universities like Cambridge, LSE, Imperial, Durham, and UCL, as well as abroad at institutions like the University of Chicago, UPenn, Bocconi, and IE Business School.

The school offers a progressive education emphasizing high standards across all areas, including Philosophy and Thinking Skills, fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, social responsibility, and respect. Our experienced staff prepare pupils for leading universities worldwide.

We are seeking a Teacher of French and Spanish starting September 2025, on a part-time basis. The role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a vibrant, forward-thinking department. Boys choose two languages from French, German, and Spanish; at Key Stage 4, studying at least one Modern Foreign Language is mandatory, with many choosing two. Students prepare for Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and AQA A Level examinations.

This position suits a talented newly qualified teacher or an experienced professional seeking career development in an independent school environment. Our staff have diverse backgrounds, and we welcome applications from those interested in transitioning into independent education.

The role is for 30 hours per week (about 4 days). There may be an option to include instrumental music lessons, potentially making it full-time for the right candidate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and assess effectively, using data to inform teaching, and provide constructive feedback.
• Support pupils with additional needs and foster an inclusive, stimulating classroom environment.
• Contribute to departmental development through meetings, sharing best practices, and resource creation.
• Stay current with subject developments and participate in CPD and INSET.
• Assist in enrichment activities like trips, language competitions, and university prep.
• Support pastoral care, including tutor responsibilities and supervision duties.
• Engage in co-curricular activities aligned with your interests.
• Attend school events, training, parents’ evenings, and collaborate with colleagues and leadership.
• Uphold school values and policies, especially safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion.
