Teacher of English

Location: Tynecastle High School

Salary: £33,594 - £50,589

Hours: 35 per week

Tynecastle High School is a six-year comprehensive secondary school serving west-central Edinburgh for over 100 years. The school relocated to a new site in January 2010, offering excellent educational facilities. It is deeply rooted in its local communities, drawing students from Craiglockhart, Dalry, Stenhouse, and Balgreen Primary Schools. The current school roll is approximately 805 students.

The school provides a wide range of subjects and prepares students successfully for SQA exams at all levels. There is a strong sense of pride among students, staff, and parents.

Various strategies support the integration of pupils with diverse needs and abilities within the curriculum. The school has a proven track record of supporting young people into the workforce and has successfully helped high-attaining students progress to universities across the UK. Salaries are in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the candidate has spent three or more months outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
