With the support of qualified coaches and specialists, you will be helping young players aged 9-17 develop their football skills and language abilities in an engaging, high-performance environment.

Young Learners improve both their technical football skills and English skills, using real game scenarios to absorb Manchester City’s world-class style. The football programme focuses on personal growth, athletic performance, and building confidence while enhancing young learners spoken, written and listened English delivered by CELTA or industry equivalent qualified teachers. The program integrates English language learning into the football setting, using creative scenarios like press conferences to help students practice and develop their language skills in a dynamic and engaging way.

Teachers on our summer programmes are responsible for delivering effective lessons with measurable outcomes to our learners from all over the world. There is some necessary paperwork to complete and weekly reports to write for students. They are required to adhere to BSC Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policies while working with us. Teachers may be asked to participate in non-academic duties if the need arises. The main duties and responsibilities are listed below:

Duties:

  • Plan and Deliver language focused and engaging lessons.
  • Teach 30 hours a week, Monday-Friday
  • Follow BSC syllabus
  • Complete weekly planners, attendance sheets, and student reports.
  • Be observed and receive feedback
  • Work as part of the academic team and support the summer team as a whole.
  • Attend and participate in academic meetings and INSETT sessions.
  • Assist with placement testing
  • Attend induction held at the centre
  • Remain professional at all times
  • Comply with BSC Uniform Policy (BSC t-shirts are provided)
  • Comply with BSC Centre rules and regulations

Child Protection & Safeguarding
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are
responsible for and come into contact with.
  • Familiarise yourself with the BSC Young Learners Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and BSC Safeguarding Policy.
  • To adhere to the BSC Young Learners Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and BSC Safeguarding Policy.
  • Report any student absence to the Welfare Team and Director of Studies
  • Report safeguarding issues if/when they occur
  • Complete BSC Safeguarding Level 1 Online before you arrive at the centre

Qualifications and Experience:
  • CELTA/ Trinity TESOL/ B.Ed. in TEFL or TESOL/ PGCE in languages with QTS plus experience teaching ESL students
  • Experience working with young learners is desirable
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly MS Office, email, and use of databases
  • Excellent lesson planning skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Enthusiasm for summer school life
  • Right to work in the UK/EU (depending on the respective centre)
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
