Salary: UPS/LPS + TLR

Are you a conscientious and enthusiastic team player ready to lead a vibrant department?

Are you looking for a role to become Head of Department for a fantastic English Department?

We are seeking a talented and dedicated English Teacher to lead our department. The ideal candidate will join us in September 2025 on a full-time, permanent basis.

Our English department has been excellently led over the past 10 years, with well-resourced facilities, exemplary curriculum materials, and significant investment in technology.

Main Duties:

  1. Enhance teaching and learning within English through the development of resources, schemes, and lesson plans of the highest standard.
  2. Develop and train staff delivering English through observation, feedback, and advice.
  3. Monitor the delivery of the subject, resource development, and student progress assessment, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  4. Promote challenging, purposeful, enjoyable, and appropriately differentiated lessons.
  5. Support students in achieving the best grades, including intervention and participation in whole-school extracurricular activities.
  6. Foster good behaviour to create a purposeful learning environment, supporting colleagues in maintaining high standards.

  • A degree in English
  • UK QTS
  • PGCE
  • Experience teaching English in a UK school
  • Proven record of outstanding results

  • Experience in quality assurance and team management
  • Exceptional teaching and tutoring skills
  • Developmental work in current role
  • Experience with curriculum systems and initiatives
  • Reflective and committed to self-improvement
  • Aligned with the school’s ethos
