Our school is a happy and vibrant community, home to a diverse international student and staff body. Many students join from around the world and are new to English or at beginner to intermediate levels. Our EAL team is dedicated to supporting students to achieve a full curriculum once their language needs are met.

We seek a full-time EAL teacher to join our team. Students follow a curriculum focused on language acquisition, transitioning to mainstream classes as they progress. The EAL teacher will be responsible for delivering the beginner curriculum full-time.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance students' spoken and written English through tailored lessons for beginners to intermediate learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons for EAL groups.
  • Create authentic resources and materials that challenge and motivate students.
  • Teach EAL classes and support students transitioning into mainstream education.
  • Regularly assess students' English skills in speaking and writing.
  • Advise on support levels needed during students' transition stages and monitor progress.
  • Develop departmental resources and materials.
  • Assess and track student progress according to departmental cycles.
  • Provide individual support to students as needed.
  • Observe and monitor students’ English development through class observations.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including intervention and revision classes.
  • Support mainstream teachers with EAL strategies and planning.
  • Collaborate with the EAL coordinator and SENDCO.
  • Support students' pastoral care and liaise with parents through meetings and reports.
  • Attend relevant meetings and contribute to school community activities.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Department of MFL.
