Job description

Teacher of Drama or Head of Drama, Fixed Term Contract – Maternity cover, Start date: January 2026, Salary: Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale + Leadership Enhancement

Here at Bohunt School we are proud of our broad and balanced curriculum that places equal emphasis on all subjects. We are passionate about preparing students for the world in which we live, and for jobs that may not yet exist.

Drama in its own right is a subject that students enjoy, that fosters creativity and curiosity, and that transcends the curriculum with its links to many other areas. If you share our passion for the subject we’d love to hear from you.

You will work in the dedicated Expressive Arts faculty with specialist teachers in music, art, photography, textiles, dance and drama, a fully equipped drama studio, theatre, and excellent undertaking in the arts as co-curricular opportunities.

Drama is taught weekly in KS3 and has a popular and increasing uptake at KS4. Outcomes this summer were well above national, placing us in the top 10% of schools. Most importantly, it is taught to our wonderful, bright-eyed, inquisitive and charming students, who you will be proud to have developed.

You will join a close knit team of specialist art providers who deliver across their subjects in dedicated classrooms. As part of the high performing Bohunt Education Trust you will benefit from support from other subject practitioners and leads with dedicated INSET time for co-planning, marking and moderating. We invest heavily in staff wellbeing knowing that if we look after our adults, then they, in turn, can look after our students.

Owing to the imminent maternity leave of one of our exceptional team, we need someone who can come in and enjoy being part of a wonderful group of practitioners. For the right candidate that role could be as Head of subject.

Are you able to:

  • Inspire and innovate?
  • Nurture and develop (yourself as well as others)?
  • Commit to, and raise further, high achievement and motivation?
  • Our greatest strength is our people and we work hard to make sure you know that. Wellbeing is central to all we do – we have dedicated wellbeing days for staff, early finishes for you to take the time you need, and this year we are trialling a two-week autumn break in the busiest of times
  • Our students are exceptional – bright, inquisitive, respectful and diligent and they provide an environment where you can teach and realise your potential, as well as theirs
  • We offer a culture of bespoke professional development from our own Leadership Academy
  • The opportunity to make a difference
  • Staff iPads
  • Benefit schemes
  • The benefit of being part of a multi-academy trust offering collaboration, support of experienced colleagues across our schools and greater opportunities for career progression

Bohunt School in Liphook was judged in the top 20 of all Comprehensive Schools nationally in The Times Parent Power Good Schools table in 2024 and the school has received national coverage for a variety of innovative initiatives.
