We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our thriving D&T department in an innovative secondary school in Hillingdon. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025.

About the School:

Our school is a dynamic learning community where students are encouraged to explore their creativity, develop their practical skills, and apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems. We provide a stimulating and supportive environment where students can experiment with different materials and technologies, design and build prototypes, and develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

About the D&T Department:

The Design and Technology department is a collaborative and inspiring team with a shared commitment to fostering students' creativity, innovation, and practical skills. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of D&T specialisms, including resistant materials, product design, electronics, and textiles. We have well-equipped workshops and studios with access to the latest technologies and resources.

About the Role:

  • Teach Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on resistant materials.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Guide and support students in using a range of tools, equipment, and materials to design and create products.
  • Encourage students to apply their knowledge of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes to solve real-world problems.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our D&T curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster a love of Design and Technology in students, encouraging them to explore their creativity, develop their practical skills, and become innovative problem-solvers.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in D&T education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Design and Technology, with a specialism in resistant materials.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching D&T and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for D&T.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  • Competitive salary (MPS/UPS + Outer London Weighting)
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme and access to employee assistance programs.
  • Excellent professional development opportunities, including opportunities for subject-specific training in D&T.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment where your contributions are valued.
  • Opportunities to contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and STEM clubs.
