Teacher of Design and Technology (Food)
Location: Selby, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: MPS/UPS:
£31,650 - £49,084 per annum

Are you an enthusiastic and creative Food Technology Teacher with a passion for inspiring young learners?

GSL Education are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Design and Technology (Food) to work at an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School located in Selby, North Yorkshire in September 2025.

Food Technology Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons to students.
  • Inspire students with practical, hands-on experiences and a focus on nutrition, health, and food preparation skills.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, schemes of work, and assessment practices within the department.
  • Assessing and providing constructive feedback to students to aid their progress and achievement.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organised classroom environment.

Food Technology Teacher Requirements:

  • A teaching qualification, namely a PGCE or a B.Ed. with QTS in Food Technology or Hospitality/Catering/Food Science.
  • A specialism in Food Technology, or a closely related subject.
  • Passionate about teaching Food Technology along with a strong command of the subject
  • A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and safeguarding.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
