About the role
We are seeking to appoint a highly qualified, motivated and innovative teacher of science who will inspire our young people. The post would be suitable for a qualified, experienced teacher with; good qualifications and a degree in science (or a related field). The successful candidate should set high standards of teaching and learning and have strong skills in differentiating lessons for different abilities. The Science Faculty is a highly collaborative department and would welcome an applicant with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
The Science Faculty currently offers a wide range of opportunities at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. We run both separate and combined science options at GCSE. Our results at GCSE level are significantly and consistently above the national average. At KS5 we run a successful science course with results in the top 25% of the country.
At Key Stage 5 the science department runs a highly subscribed trip to the world famous Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva which provides valuable experience of cutting edge science, Engineering and Computing to all Science students. This is a primary inspiration for many to go on to study STEM courses at University. A successful applicant would be involved in the organisation and running of this international experience.
