Bede’s School is seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry to join us from January 2027, with an October 2026 start possible. You will teach GCSE and A Level, inspire pupils, and contribute to our science faculty under the Head of STEM.

You will work with talented scientists, participate in co-curricular STEM activities, and help pupils achieve their best results across the Chemistry pathway. A flexible attitude to timetable and safeguarding commitment are essential.

Qualifications

Job description

Bede’s is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry in January 2027. Depending on the candidate's circumstances, an October 2026 start would be possible.

You will have the talent to help every pupil to achieve their best possible results at GCSE or A Level and you will be determined to inspire young people, and to help inculcate a love of Chemistry amongst your pupils. You will be teaching both GCSE and A Level. You will be able to enjoy working with gifted scientists who aspire to study at the very highest level as much as you enjoy working with those who find the subject particularly taxing.

The faculty is under the aegis of Head of STEM, Ms Julia French and the department is led by Ms Andreea Toma. There are separate Heads of Department for Chemistry, Physics and Biology, as well as for Animal Management, and you may be able to offer an additional subject specialism in one of these subjects.

You will be eager to be a part of a successful faculty, teaching exciting and innovative lessons, and contributing outside the classroom as well. In Years 9, 10 and 11 pupils take one of three pathways to complete their study of the Sciences; We teach the AQA Chemistry GCSE as part of the Triple pathway, Combined Science GCSEs for the Double pathway and BTEC Science as a single science pathway. At A-Level, we teach the AQA Chemistry A-Level

We also welcome applications from Early Career Teachers who will enjoy a generous level of remission on their timetable, above the level offered in other schools. They will also benefit from the expert professional mentorship of Mr Barry Jackson, our dedicated Head of Teacher Development.
