Myddelton College is a vibrant co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 4–18, located in the historic market town of Denbigh, North Wales. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Teacher of Chemistry to join our thriving Science Department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about their subject, committed to high standards, and possess strong communication and organisational skills. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented educator to inspire students across Key Stages 3 to 5 and contribute meaningfully to the academic and co-curricular life of the College.

Newly qualified teachers (NQTs) are welcome to apply and will be fully supported in their early career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Chemistry across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Ideally, teach an additional science subject at Key Stage 4.
  • Inspire, challenge, and support students to achieve their best.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Chemistry curriculum and teaching resources.
  • Support co-curricular initiatives such as competitions, trips, seminars, and enrichment events.
  • Mentor students aiming for Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.
  • Participate fully in the broader life of the school community.

Person Specification

  • A strong academic background in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of two years’ teaching experience is preferred, although applications from newly qualified teachers are warmly welcomed.
  • A proven track record (or clear potential) as an engaging and reflective classroom practitioner.
  • An interest in professional development and best pedagogical practices.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting young people in both academic and pastoral contexts.

The Science Department

The department is made up of enthusiastic subject specialists supported by a dedicated science technician. Lessons are taught in well-equipped laboratories using digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams and OneNote. We follow the AQA syllabus for both GCSE and A Level Chemistry. Our department also offers a rich programme of science-based co-curricular activities, including participation in Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiads and external competitions.
