Teacher of Art - Interim Head of Department Location: Rainham | Start Date: September 2025 | Contract: Temporary (until Easter 2026) Salary: Outer London Teachers' Pay Scale

Are you a Teacher of Art ready to step into a leadership role? Our thriving secondary school in Rainham is looking for a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of Art to join us as Interim Head of Department from September 2025 until Easter 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to take on departmental responsibility with full support from our Head of Creative Technology Faculty.

This is not a role suited to an ECT, but rather for a skilled and experienced Teacher of Art who is confident in leading curriculum design and supporting non-specialist teachers to deliver high-quality lessons at KS3.

What We're Looking For:

A passionate and well-organised Teacher of Art with experience delivering GCSE Art (portfolio and exam preparation)

Proven ability to lead and support a team, particularly non-specialist teachers

Experience adapting and delivering curriculum plans to maximise pupil progress

Excellent behaviour management and ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and creative environment

Willingness to lead after-school enrichment sessions - a popular activity within our school community

The Role:

Deliver teaching across KS3 and KS4 including two Year 10 and two Year 11 GCSE groups (maximum of 20 students)

Lead curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and maintain high standards of teaching and learning

Make effective use of technician support and maintain positive student relationships

Support the transition to our new permanent Head of Department from Easter 2026
