Job summary

Bedford College Group in Dunstable is recruiting a Lecturer in Graphic Design to join the Art & Design department. The role focuses on delivering, assessing and developing a range of Graphic Design courses, supporting students to realise their potential.

You will implement effective teaching, contribute to curriculum development and engage in marketing activities to promote programmes. A Level 3 qualification and progression to Cert Ed or equivalent are expected, with commitment to widening

Qualifications

• Level 3 relevant qualification required.
• Willingness to achieve Certificate in Education or equivalent.
• Willingness to achieve Assessor/Verifier qualifications.
• GCSE English and Maths A-C or Level 2 within one year.
• Experience of teaching and assessing on a range programmes and levels.
• Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Job description

Role: Teacher - Graphic Design (Mat Cover)

Location: Central Bedfordshire College - Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher's Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Fixed Term (End Date: 4th Jan 2028)

About the role:

We have a great opportunity based at our Dunstable campus for a Lecturer in Graphic Design to become a key member of our Art & Design department.

As a Lecturer in Graphic Design, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students:

• To prepare, deliver, assess and verify subject specialisms on a range of courses and levels.
• To support and guide students to achieve success and realise their potential.
• To manage students' learning and provide a high-quality learning experience.
• To contribute pro-actively to developments in the Centre in curriculum development and innovative teaching.
• To participate in marketing and promotion activities to support a range of programmes and learning opportunities.

Our ideal candidates will have recent experience of teaching and assessing on a range programmes and levels and knowledge of the current developments in own specialist area, alongside the following qualifications:

• Level 3 relevant qualification
• Willingness to achieve Certificate in Education or equivalent
• Willingness to achieve Assessor/Verifier qualifications
• English and mathematics or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent or willingness to achieve English and mathematics Level 2 within one year
• Experience of teaching and assessing on a range programmes and levels
• Knowledge of the current developments in own specialist area
• Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
