Overview

The teacher of Key Stage 2 will be expected to teach a range of subjects across the Academy, with subject specialism accommodated as much as possible. Teachers are expected to participate in research projects to improve education quality and engage in our coaching programme for staff.

Responsible to: Key Stage 2 Lead / Assistant Headteachers

Role Summary

The primary focus is to carry out professional duties as a teacher, delivering lessons across various subjects within KS2. The role involves collaborating with colleagues to continually enhance the Academy's provision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plan differentiated/adapted work for pupils, utilizing The Whitley AP Academy curriculum, the National Curriculum, and the Academy’s policies, ensuring high-quality teaching for children and young people with SEMH needs.
2. Be accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress, and outcomes, promoting high standards in literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
3. Use assessment tools effectively—monitor pupil progress, set targets, plan lessons, and provide feedback, including statutory work related to EHCPs and reviews.
4. Monitor and evaluate specific programmes and strategies for their impact on improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
5. Set high expectations to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
6. Implement the Academy’s Behaviour for Learning Policy and actively manage pupil behaviour daily.
7. Collaborate with associate staff, ensuring clarity on lesson planning and expectations to improve pupil outcomes.
8. Organize a classroom and shared spaces, including outdoor areas, to promote independence and resourcefulness among children.
9. Contribute to research, training, and dissemination of best practices and innovative approaches within SEND services and to families.
10. Communicate effectively with children, parents/carers, staff, and professionals.
11. Prioritize safety and safeguarding at all times.
12. Maintain current knowledge and practices, providing evidence-based advice and support to service users.
