Job summary

East Sussex College Group is seeking a Site Carpentry teaching professional to join the Construction team at Ore Valley Campus. The role includes delivering carpentry teaching to apprentices on Wednesdays and Fridays, plus completing work-based assessments on flexible days.

You’ll support learners through progress reviews, evidence gathering and EPA preparation, ensuring a high-quality apprenticeship aligned to industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching and/or assessing apprentices is desirable.
  • Familiarity with EPA requirements for the Level 2 Site Carpentry Apprenticeship Standard.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Site Carpentry teaching to apprentices on Wednesdays (Year 2 – sitebased carpentry) and Fridays (Year 1 – sitebased carpentry).

We’re looking for an experienced Site Carpentry professional to join our Construction team at Ore Valley, supporting apprentices through high-quality teaching and work-based assessment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, working with motivated learners and a supportive curriculum and apprenticeship team.

  • This exciting role will include:
  • Delivering Site Carpentry teaching to apprentices on:
  • Wednesdays (Year 2 – sitebased carpentry)
  • Fridays (Year 1 – sitebased carpentry)
  • Completing work-based assessments for apprentices across two additional flexible days, planned around teaching delivery
  • Supporting learners with progress reviews, evidence gathering, and preparation for End-Point Assessment (EPA)
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure a high-quality apprenticeship experience aligned to industry standards
  • If you can demonstrate the following, then we’d love to hear from you:
  • Level 3 NVQ in Site Carpentry
  • Ideally at least 5 years’ industry experience, demonstrating occupational competence
  • Experience teaching and/or assessing apprentices, either on a 1:1 basis or in group settings
  • Familiarity with EPA requirements for the Level 2 Site Carpentry Apprenticeship Standard
  • For many of our teaching roles, we welcome applications from candidates at any stage of their career, including industry professionals with no or limited teaching experience. We can offer teacher development and qualifications to support your success in teaching.

Whilst this role will initially be for a of 4 days until July, then 2 days until September initially; there is scope for there to be a continued role for next academic year.

Annual salary:

Circa £30,000 - £42,000 FTE - £24,500 - £34,000 Based on 30 hours. (Subject to qualifications, skills and experience)

Hours:

Part Time – 30 Hours / 52.14 Weeks - Fixed term until initially Dec 2026.
