Job summary

Leeds City College is seeking a part-time teacher to deliver animal management lessons within the Animal Care and Land Management department. The role involves teaching FE students across a range of programmes, with flexibility to work at Temple Newsam Home Farm and other campuses as required.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in a related subject, pursue or hold a teaching qualification, and support learners with inclusive methods.

Qualifications

• Qualified to degree level in a related subject.
• Hold, or be working towards, a recognised teaching qualification.
• Recent delivery experience in FE or school sector.
• English and Maths at Level 2 or above.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources.
• Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods.
• Create effective assessment activities, provide SMART targets and timely feedback.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with students and provide support to ensure successful outcomes.
• Reflect on teaching strategies to meet diverse needs of students.

About the Role

Leeds City College are seeking a teacher to join our dynamic team in the Animal Care and Land Management department. In this role you will have the opportunity to deliver animal management lessons to students, as part of their programme of study.

The School of Animal Care and Land Management offers a wide range of study programmes, apprenticeships and Higher Education (HE). From September we will be delivering courses from entry to level 6. Whilst this role will predominantly be working with Further Education (FE) students we will require the successful candidate to demonstrate flexibility and be able to work with a variety of learners.

This role will be based at Temple Newsam but on occasion their might be the requirement to also work at other campuses such as Printworks or the University Centre. The successful candidate should like animals and be comfortable in a land-based real work environment.

Please note this position is part time and permanent. The pro rata salary is 19,149 with progression to 21,547.

About You

• Qualified to degree level in a related subject.
• You will hold, or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant up to date subject knowledge and recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector
• English and Maths at Level 2 or above.
• Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills, a commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment for students.
• You will apply restorative practice to your communications with students and colleagues and be a proactive, flexible and supportive member of the team.
