Design Technology Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Dudley from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator to inspire students, develop their practical skills, and contribute to a dynamic DT department within a supportive school environment.
About The Role
As a Design Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and innovative lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will foster creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills in areas such as resistant materials, product design, engineering, and food technology. Your role will be to inspire students to develop confidence in designing and making, supporting their academic progress and practical understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Design Technology lessons aligned with the national curriculum
- Develop engaging schemes of work and resources to encourage creativity, innovation, and technical skill development
- Assess and monitor student work, providing constructive feedback to support improvement
- Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and abilities, including practical workshops and project work
- Promote safety and best practices in workshop environments
- Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development within the classroom
- Track and evaluate student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
- Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and extra-curricular activities related to Design Technology
- Foster an inclusive and motivating environment that encourages problem solving, resilience, and independent learning
- Participate in school events, parents' evenings, and staff meetings
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- Proven experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level is essential
- Strong knowledge of DT specialisms such as resistant materials, product design, engineering, or food technology
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills
- Ability to inspire creativity and enthusiasm for Design Technology among students
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan effectively
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment
