Job Description:
We are a small, tax-specialised accountancy practice based in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, seeking a highly motivated individual to join our fast-growing tax department.

The individual will handle various aspects of tax compliance, liaise with clients and HMRC, and support the tax team with administrative tasks.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in tax.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Compliance:
    1. Prepare self-assessment tax returns for a diverse range of clients.
    2. Draft income and expenditure accounts, as well as rental accounts.
    3. Ensure all tax returns are filed accurately and on time, meeting all submission requirements.
    4. Handle client queries promptly and professionally.
    5. Prepare capital gains computations and submit the 60-day CGT return.
    6. Assist with ad hoc advisory work as needed.
  2. Client and HMRC Liaison:
    1. Communicate with clients to gather necessary information for tax returns.
    2. Liaise with HMRC to address queries and ensure compliance.
    3. Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, providing excellent client service at all times.
    4. Promptly deal with routine post and emails.
  3. Administrative Support:
    1. Assist with various administrative tasks.
    2. Ensure all client records are up-to-date and accurately maintained.
    3. Support billing and invoicing processes for tax services.
  4. Team Support:
    1. Collaborate effectively with team members to meet deadlines and manage workload.
    2. Demonstrate a thorough and organised approach to work.
    3. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Skills and Attributes:
    1. High attention to detail and accuracy.
    2. Client-facing experience is required.
    3. Good organisational skills to ensure that all deadlines are met.
    4. Reliable and enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills.
    5. Professional approach when interacting with colleagues and clients.
    6. Ability to work well as part of a team while managing individual tasks and time.
    7. Good computer skills including sound knowledge of Word, Excel, and any tax software.
  2. Experience:
    1. Relevant tax qualifications preferred.
    2. Minimum 2 years private client experience required.
