Position Summary

The Tax Manager is primarily responsible for the preparation and submission of Research and Development tax credits and other incentives for Thermo Fisher Scientific group companies. Thermo Fisher Scientific is a large multi-national corporation with over 1,000 domestic and foreign subsidiaries and affiliates. This individual will play a key role with regard to optimising incentives for the group in their designated jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of incentives across various companies within the group

  • Analyse activities to identify qualifying expenditure

  • Prepare and submit claims in compliance with relevant local tax legislation

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate reporting

  • Support tax audits and address queries arising from submitted claims

  • Provide expert guidance to internal business partners on optimising incentives

  • Prepare forecasts and post accruals accordingly

  • Keep abreast of changes in upcoming legislation

  • Other ad hoc duties

The successful applicant will have the following
  • A qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field - Chartered Accountant or CTA preferred

  • Has a strong background in Tax

  • Background in R&D Tax Credits (highly desirable)

  • Must have an analytical mindset and has the ability to use excel at advanced level to review and manipulate large data sets

  • Experience of using analytical tools

  • Strong communication skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently

  • Attention to detail

People management experience is not essential but strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior level is key.
