Job summary

Autograph Recruitment Ltd in the UK is seeking a Tax Manager to own and develop the tax function within a Newport-based practice. The role offers flexibility with full- or part-time hours and hybrid working arrangements.

You will oversee corporate, personal tax and VAT, interact with HMRC and deliver proactive tax planning for a diverse client portfolio. A strong technical grounding and client-facing confidence are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience within UK tax including corporate, personal tax and VAT.
• Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation.
• Excellent client liaison and HMRC handling.
• Experience with tax planning and advisory services.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the practice's tax function and develop the tax offering.
• Oversee personal and corporate tax compliance, VAT returns and wider tax reporting.
• Act as the main point of contact for HMRC, including enquiries.
• Provide tax planning and advisory support to a varied portfolio of clients.
• Work with business owners to identify tax efficiencies and opportunities.
• Keep up to date with changes in UK tax legislation and advise clients.
• Translate complex tax legislation into clear, practical advice for clients.
• Collaborate closely with Directors.

A well-established accountancy practice in Newport is looking to appoint a Tax Manager to take ownership of and develop the tax function within the practice.

This is a newly created senior opportunity where you will have the autonomy to shape the tax offering, work closely with the Directors and become a key point of contact for clients on a wide range of tax matters.

The role can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, with flexibility around hours and working arrangements.

You will be

• Taking ownership of the practice's tax function and developing the tax offering

• Overseeing personal and corporate tax compliance, VAT returns and wider tax reporting

• Acting as the main point of contact for HMRC, including dealing with enquiries

• Providing tax planning and advisory support to a varied portfolio of clients

• Working directly with business owners to identify tax efficiencies and opportunities

• Keeping up to date with changes in UK tax legislation and advising clients accordingly

• Translating complex tax legislation into clear, practical advice for clients

• Working closely with the Directors

About you

• Ideally CTA qualified, or working towards the qualification - study support will be considered

• 5+ years' experience within UK tax, ideally covering corporate, personal tax and VAT

• Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation

• Comfortable dealing directly with clients, business owners and HMRC

• Commercially minded with the ability to identify tax planning opportunities

• Confident communicator who can explain complex tax matters clearly

• Experienced using tax/accounting software
