Job description

My fast-growing Cheltenham-based client is currently seeking an ambitious and dynamic candidate to join their firm as a Tax Manager. Ideally, you will be ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong background in practice.

The Role

This is a mixed tax role for the Veterinary/Pharmacy teams, managing a portfolio of business (primarily corporate but also partnerships) and personal tax clients, ensuring excellent client service and the consistent meeting of deadlines. The individual will support partners on tax advisory projects and transactions.

The Responsibilities

  • The role involves both advisory work and responsibility for compliance.
  • The advisory work includes acquisitions of companies or goodwill, share sales, purchase of own shares, financial due diligence, mergers and demergers, restructuring of businesses.
  • Researching and understanding technical matters and presenting them in a comprehensible and practical way.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients and providing an exceptional level of client service.
  • Reviewing personal, partnership, and corporate tax returns, including liaising with specialists on technical matters.
  • Conducting detailed capital allowances analysis of major property projects.
  • Providing remuneration planning.
  • Preparing capital gains tax computations.
  • Liaising with HMRC on matters as required in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in tax, accounting, and financial planning disciplines to provide a coordinated service to clients.
  • Managing and developing junior team members and offering a professional role model.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA and/or ATT qualified. CTA desirable.
  • Client-driven and commercially aware.
  • Excellent communicator in both written and oral situations.
  • Well-developed supervisory skills, including coaching and motivating staff.
  • Team player with an enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work.
  • Sound technical skills with practical application.
  • Ability to deliver quality work within deadlines.
