Employee Ownership & Tax Law Solicitor - Join a Growing Specialist Law Practice

Location: Hybrid working with minimum 3 days in office (first 6 months)
Permanent | Full-time
Experience: 5+ PQE

We are seeking an experienced Solicitor with a strong background in Employee Ownership and UK Tax Law to join our growing legal practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly specialised and purpose-driven area of law, helping businesses transition to and thrive under employee ownership models.

The Role

You will provide expert legal and tax advice to a diverse client base, guiding them through all stages of employee ownership transactions, from planning and implementation to post-completion compliance. This includes Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs), share schemes, and ongoing legal/tax advisory support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising clients on legal and tax aspects of employee ownership structures (EOTs, share incentive plans, etc.)
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documentation: trust deeds, shareholder agreements, articles of association
  • Supporting clients through ownership transition processes and ensuring ongoing legal compliance
  • Advising on tax efficiency and managing HMRC reporting requirements
  • Leading your own projects and mentoring junior team members
  • Contributing to business development through writing, speaking and client engagement

About You

Essential:

  • UK-qualified solicitor or qualified CTA with 5+ years PQE
  • Strong experience in employee ownership, corporate law, and UK tax law
  • Excellent drafting, client communication and problem-solving skills
  • Confident explaining complex tax/legal matters in clear, practical terms
  • Comfortable running projects independently and taking initiative

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications in tax (e.g. CTA)
  • Experience working with or advising employee-owned businesses
  • Experience training or mentoring junior team members

Personal qualities:

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge
  • Responsive and proactive approach to client work
  • A good communicator who enjoys engaging with both colleagues and clients
  • Willingness to attend the office at least 3 days a week for the first 6 months
