The opportunity

Our London based team of US-qualified tax professionals is a growing practice of 50+ individuals focused on providing exceptional client service to the asset management industry including hedge funds, debt funds, private equity funds and real estate funds and their management companies.

The team is highly dynamic and is looking for motivated, energetic and collaborative individuals to join the US team in London.

Your key responsibilities

  • Overseeing hedge fund US tax compliance engagements, considering risk, operational, and tax technical issues.
  • Researching US tax legislation and explaining its impact to asset management clients as part of tax consulting projects.
  • Coaching junior staff (onshore and offshore) and sharing knowledge with the team.
  • Coordinating multiple engagement teams’ schedules and deadlines.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Positive attitude and team spirit.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in securities analysis for non-475 funds, including wash sales, straddles, debt, swaps, etc.
  • Understanding hedge fund partnership allocations, revaluation accounts, and aggregation.
  • Experience advising on US tax impact of trading strategies and fund structures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts.
  • Enthusiasm for coaching team members.

Minimum qualifications

  • Current CPA, EA, or equivalent qualification, or Degree/Master’s in accounting or taxation.
  • Knowledge of corporate and international tax returns and US tax laws.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing partnership tax returns and Schedules K-1.
  • Practical experience with hedge fund securities analysis and allocations.
  • Knowledge of Go Systems or similar tax software.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience managing cross-border teams.
  • Ability to communicate US tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of hedge fund US tax software and management company structures.
  • Background in financial services, especially hedge funds in US tax capacity.
  • Experience in training junior team members.
